    Different Accommodations & Care Setups

Respite / Short Term Accommodation (STA): Short Term Accommodation (STA), including respite, is funding for support and accommodation for a short time away from your usual home. It covers the cost of your care in another place for up to 14 days at a time. You might have a short stay with other people, or by yourself. It’s often funded when your usual carers aren’t available, or for you to try new things.

Medium Term Accommodation (MTA): Medium term accommodation is one of the home and living supports that NDIS may fund. It’s funding for somewhere to live if you can’t move into your long term home because your disability supports aren’t ready. Funding for medium term accommodation only covers the cost of the accommodation for the time you stay there, and does not include day-to-day living costs like food, internet, utilities etc and any personal care supports. These are funded separately by NDIS if needed during stay in medium term accommodation.
MTA is charged under the NDIS Line Item 01_082_0115_1_1

Supported Independent Living (SIL): This support item provides assistance with, or supervision of, tasks of daily life in a shared living environment, with a focus on developing the skills of each individual to live as autonomously as possible. It helps you live as independently as possible, while building your skills. Supported Independent Living is for people with higher support needs, who need some level of help at home all the time. You can get supported independent living if you live with other NDIS participants or if you
    live on your own
