The NDIS Code of Conduct refers to the set of standards and expectations for behavior and ethical conduct within the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in Australia. It outlines the responsibilities and obligations of all participants, including NDIS providers, workers, and people receiving support.

The code emphasizes the importance of respecting the rights and dignity of individuals with disabilities, promoting their autonomy and decision-making, ensuring their safety and well-being, and maintaining confidentiality. It also addresses issues such as preventing abuse, neglect, and exploitation, promoting inclusivity and diversity, and fostering a person-centered approach to support.

The NDIS Code of Conduct aims to uphold high standards of integrity and professionalism within the disability support sector, ensuring that participants receive safe, respectful, and quality services.

As provided on NDIS Website, the Code of Conduct requires workers and providers who deliver NDIS Supports to:

  • act with respect for individual rights to freedom of expression, self-determination, and decision-making in accordance with relevant laws and conventions
  • respect the privacy of people with disability
  • provide supports and services in a safe and competent manner with care and skill
  • act with integrity, honesty, and transparency
  • promptly take steps to raise and act on concerns about matters that might have an impact on the quality and safety of supports provided to people with disability
  • take all reasonable steps to prevent and respond to all forms of violence, exploitation, neglect, and abuse of people with disability
  • take all reasonable steps to prevent and respond to sexual misconduct.
